An award-winning comedy duo has been announced as the replacements for two long-time radio hosts.

Sam ‘Archie’ Arenson and Henry Bretz will replace Todd Widdicombe and Sami Muirhead for the drive segment (3-6pm weekdays) on 92.7 Mix FM from early November.

Widdicombe and Sunshine Coast News columnist Muirhead exited the show in August.

Archie and Bretz first crossed paths in 2022 and went on to co-host breakfast radio at Power100 in Townsville, where they gained attention for their stunts, from collecting actual dirt from listeners to build a new ‘mountain’, to constructing a wall made of thousands of stubby coolers along the ocean, and even camping out in chairs for more than 24 hours to win cash for listeners.

They went on to win Best Comedy Segment at the 2024 Australian Commercial Radio Awards.

“Working in radio anywhere with your best mate is a pinch-yourself opportunity, but to step into the incredible show built by Todd and Sami is a genuine honour,” Bretz said.

“Archie and I cannot wait to work day and night to build the same rapport and connection that Todd and Sami had with the Sunny Coast community.

“As a proud Queenslander, I’m buzzing to be back in the sun and working with Archie, AB, Mark and the entire Mix team to build on the station’s success.”

Archie added: “I’m incredibly excited and humbled to be joining Mix FM drive alongside Henry Bretz on the Sunshine Coast.

“Todd and Sami have set such a high standard over the past two decades, creating a legacy of connection and community that we deeply respect. We’re grateful for the opportunity to follow in their footsteps and can’t wait to bring listeners a fun, local and unpredictable drive home.”

“They bring the energy, passion and fresh perspective that we know will connect. We couldn’t be more excited to have them on board.”

Content director Ben Erbsland said: “I’m so proud to announce that Archie and Bretz are our new drive show on Mix FM. These guys are genuinely funny and always push themselves to create amazing content – I can’t wait for them to get started on the Sunny Coast.”

Muirhead said: “Archie and Bretz, a huge congratulations. You’re stepping into the most wonderful family at Mix FM and I know our listeners are going to embrace you with open arms.

“Todd and I feel so proud of the show we’ve built and it’s a comfort to know it’s being handed to such talented, big-hearted guys. Welcome to the Coast — you’re going to love it here.”
