A revamped university food precinct with multiple dining options shaped by student feedback is on track to open early next year.
The upgraded University of the Sunshine Coast brasserie is expected to offer a greater choice of food and drinks with a focus on healthy eating at prices suitable for students.
A UniSC spokesperson outlined its inclusions and detailed many of the menu items.
“The precinct will feature multiple outlets and dining options with modern, uncluttered design and several seating areas,” they said.
The precinct will include a burger bar that will also sell fries, shakes and soft serve ice cream.

There will be an international food canteen with an evolving menu of hot dishes from around the world, with consideration to the cultural dietary needs of local and international students.
The dining hub will feature a wholefood cafe featuring toasted focaccias, paninis, fresh salads, soups, smoothies, juices and coffee.
The precinct will also boast an express hot and cold food outlet with burritos, salad tubs, sandwiches, biscuits, snacks and basic items like pens and tissues.
The spokesperson said students played a crucial role in the renewal of the brasserie.

“Student feedback has been instrumental in shaping the project, with consultation from the start,” they said.
“As such, competitive food and drink pricing for students will continue to be a focus.”
There’s likely to be more additions to the precinct, in time.
“A pizza bar is still on the agenda but funding for this stage is still being prioritised against other facility upgrades, so there’s no date for this yet,” the spokesperson said.

A new kitchen will include commercial-grade equipment.
UniSC Vice-Chancellor and president Professor Helen Bartlett said the upgrade would be an important step in the university’s evolution and to develop a social hub for students, staff and visitors.
“Students enjoy taking time out from classes to socialise and study, so it’s important that we have modern options and comfortable spaces to accommodate this more as part of wider campus improvements,” she said.
“The new-look brasserie will be a space that offers multiple food options, a sense of privacy and is safe and accessible, consistent with a maturing university and world-class research institution that attracts staff and students from around the world.

“Following a fantastic upgrade to Cafe C, this will elevate the campus experience for students, staff and visitors to the campus.”
During the upgrade, the brasserie will operate from an adjacent building, as well as the central site that is occupied by Good Bean until the lease ends, offering a range of discounted food for students.
