A rescue helicopter crew has been tasked to back-to-back missions in a popular recreation area.

The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight rescue chopper was first tasked to Double Island Point at 2.30pm on Friday.

A male surfer in his 60s was treated by the LifeFlight critical care doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service flight paramedic alongside local paramedics for spinal injuries.

He was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

While on the hospital helipad, the crew was tasked at 4.13pm to a campground along Teewah Beach.

Three swimmers were retrieved from the ocean by surf lifesavers after they were dragged out by a rip.

The LifeFlight medical team and QAS paramedics treated a teenage girl for spinal injuries.

She was airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital for further treatment.
