An acclaimed restaurant on an iconic tourist street has closed temporarily for renovations, as its parent hotel also undergoes a makeover.
The Noosa Beach House Restaurant and Bar on Hastings Street closed on July 28, with plans to reopen by the summer.
The restaurant is in the Sofitel Noosa Pacific Resort, which is also undergoing renovations.
“We are proud to share that Sofitel Noosa Pacific Resort is undergoing a multimillion-dollar enhancement, part of a carefully planned refurbishment program designed to elevate every aspect of the guest experience,” the hotel’s website states.
“This transformation is being carried out wing by wing, floor by floor, with thoughtful attention to detail and minimal impact to those staying with us while the renovation is underway.
“From refreshed guest rooms to revitalised public spaces, each update reflects our commitment to contemporary elegance, comfort and timeless hospitality.

“We thank you for your continued support and look forward to welcoming you into a new era of refined style – inspired by our unique location and rich heritage.”

The resort will remain open during the renovations, easing concerns expressed in a post on the Noosa Community Notice Board on Monday.
“I visited Noosa Heads this weekend for the first time in years and was shocked to see the Sheraton (sic) Hotel closed,” it said. “When did that happen, and why? It used to be such a busy, thriving place – I remember meeting friends there for drinks several times in summer over the years.”
A response to the post by Sarah Nicholson, who identified herself as the director of marketing for the hotel, clarified the status of the works.
“Sofitel Noosa Pacific Resort isn’t closed. The hotel is under enhancement but we are still open, as we are renovating our guest rooms wing by wing and continuing to welcome guests,” the post said.
“Noosa Beach House is temporarily closed for renovation but will reopen for summer. Riviera Bar and Lounge, in the lobby overlooking the river, is open from 10am until late for a light meal or scenic drink.”

Ms Nicholson also posted that a new restaurant and bar was on the way.
“Stay tuned, we will be releasing details shortly … and it’s very exciting,” she posted.
The Noosa Beach House was opened by celebrity chef Peter Kuruvita in 2013, who operated it for eight years before departing in 2021 to open Alba Noosa.
Bret Cameron was in 2023 named as the executive chef for Sofitel Noosa and Noosa Beach House.

The restaurant has received many accolades, including an Australian Good Food Guide Chef Hat Award in 2023.
The Sofitel Noosa Pacific Resort was built in in 1989. It underwent a refresh after rebranding from the Sheraton Noosa Resort and Spa in 2016, and also underwent an extensive, multimillion-dollar renovation in 2013.
