Noosa Council will invest $51 million in capital works during the next 12 months, including a major bridge renewal, affordable housing initiatives and tourism upgrades.

The newly endorsed operational plan for 2025-26 sets council’s direction for 98 initiatives to be delivered this financial year, including the $9 million Doonella Bridge rebuild.

The council has allocated resources to road resealing and upgrades to footpaths, cycleways, amenities blocks and park furniture.

Progress is also being made on Noosaville foreshore upgrades, including a new Changing Places facility.

The council will continue to partner with state and community housing providers to deliver affordable housing, and will investigate the potential for housing above council-owned car parks.

Design work for the Beckmans Road duplication will continue in collaboration with the state government, along with delivery of the Destination Management Plan and upgrades to community and sporting facilities including the Noosa Aquatic Centre, The J, the Cooroy Sports Complex, the Main Beach seawall and more.

Mayor Frank Wilkie said the plan gave staff clear direction on implementing strategies developed with extensive community consultation, including the Environment, Housing, Social and Transport strategies, and the Noosa Plan 2020.

“The CEO will update councillors quarterly on how the 98 initiatives are progressing, to give a clear picture on the commitments made to our community,” he said.

CEO Larry Sengstock said the plan ensured accountability.

“It’s not the only reporting available to the community – regular financial and capital works updates are also provided,” he said.
