A waterfront eatery has announced it is closing this weekend, with the operators expressing their “deepest gratitude” to supporters following the sudden move.
Marina Bar and Bistro, which opened last year in the emerging Dockside Village precinct at Pelican Waters, posted to social media on Tuesday with the news.
“After much consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close the doors of our beloved Marina Bar and Bistro,” it said.
“This choice was not made lightly, and we want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported us, whether you popped in for a casual drink, celebrated a milestone with us, or simply made us part of your weekly routine.
“This Sunday, June 29, will be our last day of regular trade, and you can still book for our Sunday roast lunch and pizza night.”
The venue is operated by Simon Jones, who is known as the man behind That Pizza Guy, and employed about 20 local staff.

The restaurant opened alongside the neighbouring IGA supermarket W’Gusto, which went into liquidation earlier this year.
The post, from “Simon, Sally and the MBB team”, said the venue would continue to open for special events.
“While our regular service is coming to a close, our popular pizza nights will continue on Sundays and we are still available to host private functions and special events,” it said.
“We’re also exploring the possibility of monthly themed pop-up nights, such as our recent trivia night. So please stay connected with us for future announcements.
“Thank you for being part of our journey. We sincerely hope to see you again soon, in new and memorable ways.”
Mr Jones was contacted but declined to comment.
