Police are appealing for information after a fire extinguisher was discharged at a vehicle at Sippy Downs on Sunday.

A silver Suzuki Vitara was driving along High Street, near Sippy Downs Drive, about 7.50pm before two unknown offenders approached the vehicle on e-scooters.

The two people then discharged a fire extinguisher into the vehicle before fleeing.

The occupants of the vehicle, the 29-year-old male driver and five-month-old child passenger, sustained minor injuries as a result.

The partner of the man and mother of the baby later posted to social media about the incident.

“About 15 minutes ago two teenagers pulled up next to my partner on e-bikes at the lights on High Street in Sippy Downs and let off what we believe to be a fire extinguisher straight into the back window of our car, which had the windows down and our five-month-old baby in the back seat,” she said.

“Very lucky my partner had my child in the car and that her safety was his first priority.

“I’m all for young kids having fun but this is actually disgusting. Please discipline your children.

“And if you are reading this, congratulations on putting my five-month-old baby in hospital you flogs.”

The fire extinguisher believed to be the one used in the incident was later located on Stringybark Road at Sippy Downs.

Investigators are appealing to residents and business in the area between 7.30pm and 8.20pm whom may have relevant information, CCTV or dashcam vision to contact police.
