A house and truck have been torn apart by a fire near a main road on the Sunshine Coast.

The abandoned building was destroyed by the blaze along Perwillowen Road at Burnside during the middle of a rainy Friday.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesperson told Sunshine Coast News that seven crews attended the scene, from about 11.50am.

“When crews arrived they found the house and truck fully involved in flames,” she said.

“Crews conducted a search of the premises and truck and no-one was found.

“The fire was extinguished by 12.30pm and crews remained on the scene, dampening down.

“Police will be looking into it, in terms of the cause. QFD will work alongside them.”

It was a single-storey house and the truck was in the backyard.

Perwillowen Road was temporarily closed between Arundell Avenue and Windsor Road.

A Queensland Police Service spokesperson told Sunshine Coast News that the site was being examined.

“Police were called to Perwillowen Road, Burnside around 11.45am to reports of a building on fire,” they said.

“A crime scene has been declared and investigations ongoing.”
