A new principal has been welcomed to an independent school on the Sunshine Coast.

Chris Peach has taken the helm of Montessori International College at Forest Glen.

He has returned to his roots on the Sunshine Coast, after spending five years as principal of Brisbane Montessori School.

Mr Peach said he was excited to take on the role, which he started in mid-April.

“Through experience, I know that we see the best Montessori outcomes when school and home align and I look forward to walking alongside our community as we support each child’s unique growth and development,” he said.

“Of utmost importance in my educational philosophy is maintaining a high-quality and authentic Montessori environment, one where our young people are empowered to flourish with confidence, curiosity and compassion.”

MIC Board chair Kate Hemat-Siraky welcomed Mr Peach.

“We are thrilled that someone of Chris’ calibre is joining us to take MIC into the next stage of our growth and development,” she said.

“The recruitment process attracted exceptionally talented Montessori-trained education professionals and principals from all across Australia and Chris stood out for his warmth, leadership and strategic insight.

“Chris’ family will join the MIC community, making this move not just professional, but deeply personal. The Sunshine Coast is lucky to have attracted such strong talent and a lovely family back ‘home’.

“In particular, we look forward to Chris bringing his passion for being hands-on in the classroom, continually improving and lifting the standards of Montessori training across our talented team and bringing our strategic plan to life, including exciting capital works already in the pipeline with a refreshed master plan for the college.

Mr Peach takes over from Natalie Smith, who stepped aside from the principal’s position in Term 4 last year to take care of her ageing parents.

Natalie Smith stepped down from the principal’s role last year.

Montessori International College offers an integrated Montessori learning environment for students aged 3 to 18, where the focus is on preparing young people for life, not just for school, through independence, confidence, curiosity and respect for self, others and the environment.
