A chef with more than a decade in the industry is aiming to shake up the local dining scene with the opening of a new Mexican restaurant.

The eatery’s opening has also instigated a high-stakes Instagram challenge for the venture’s marketing manager.

Vida Mexican Kitchen and Bar will officially open today, promising a refined yet relaxed atmosphere at the new Lowanna Beach Resort, next to Kawana Shoppingworld at Buddina.

Owner and head chef Daniel White, who is already the group executive chef for two successful Coast restaurants, said he was looking to bring his passion for Mexican culture and cuisine to Vida.

“After 16 years in the industry, opening Vida is the next step in my career. It’s about taking everything I’ve learned and turning it into something fresh and fun,” he said.

“I really want Vida to be somewhere that feels good, not just for our guests but for the team too. If people love working here, everything else follows.

“I grew up on the Sunshine Coast and now I’ve got a young family here, so opening something local that brings people together just made sense.”

As part of the opening, Mr White has challenged marketing manager Helen Troth to grow Vida’s Instagram account to 5000 followers organically.

If she is successful Mr White has promised to buy her flights to Mexico.

A press release said the new restaurant would offer a taste of Mexico with coastal vibes.

“Vida offers an elevated approach to Mexican cuisine, combining fresh, high-quality ingredients with authentic flavours and modern twists,” it said.

“The restaurant’s carefully curated menu features a mix of bold flavours, delicious cocktails and stunning presentations that invite guests to savour every bite. Perfect for a full dining experience or casual post-beach drinks, Vida captures the laid-back spirit of the Coast while providing an upscale dining atmosphere.

“The restaurant’s decor reflects its Mexican influence with terracotta tones and simple, stylish design elements, making it the ideal spot for guests looking to enjoy a great meal and take memorable social media photos.”
