A Sunshine Coast man who won more than $100,000 plans to put the money to good use.

The Maroochydore retiree held the only division one-winning entry nationally in Super 66 draw 4563, drawn on Saturday, April 12.

“It’s so exciting. I couldn’t claim the prize quick enough,” he said.

He said the big win had come “at the most perfect time”.

“My son is getting married later this year and I really wanted to surprise him with something special,” he said.

“I’ll also be helping out other family members. One of them will be receiving $5000 of the prize.

“I’ve hit retirement age as well and need to focus on setting up my future.

“There’s no doubt I’ll be enjoying some Chinese takeaway for dinner.”

His winning 10-game QuickPick entry was purchased at Nextra Swan Newsagency at Sunshine Plaza in Maroochydore.

Newsagency manager David Greenwood was delighted.

“We’ve decorated the store with displays …and we’ve had lots of excitement from our customers,” he said.

“We’re sure it will inspire many other locals in the area.

“Nextra Swan Newsagency has been a part of two division one-winning syndicates in the last six months: we’re on a winning streak.”

The winning numbers were 1, 1, 8, 6, 5 and 8.
