The Coast’s newest rooftop bar is under construction, with scaffolding now visible above a popular beachfront venue.

In late 2022 the owners of the Mediterranean-style eatery at Mooloolaba applied to build an outdoor area inspired by a “European summer”.

The application sought to construct a rooftop bar and dining area spanning 364sqm above the existing Pavilion Mooloolaba venue on the corner of Mooloolaba Esplanade and Venning Street.

Known as Pavilion Rooftop Bar, Sunshine Coast Council approved the application in March 2023.

Following the approval, Pavilion Mooloolaba submitted a further minor change application in August 2024 to address potential noise and acoustic impacts.

That application was approved the following month.

Designed by Wylde Co, the new section will feature the same archways, textured walls and earthy tones as its lower level, incorporating a subtropical sustainable design with uninterrupted ocean views.

Accessed via a spiral staircase, the expansion will double the venue’s capacity to 300 people and have the ability to cater for larger functions and events.

The Pavilion Mooloolaba website says the rooftop venue will be open by mid-2025.

“Extending from our beachfront venue, we invite you up the spiral staircase to enjoy panoramic views from Pt Cartwright to Noosa; where every day feels like a European summer,” the website states.

“With more space for those special occasions and good times, be sure to follow our socials for more details closer to the date.”

Good Bean Franchising CEO Shane Hepburn owns the venue, which opened in September 2021.

Mr Hepburn has been contacted for further comment.
