UPDATE: Two teenagers have been located deceased at a waterfall on the Sunshine Coast.

The Queensland Police Service stated that the bodies of a 17-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy were found at Wappa Falls near Yandina on Sunday, after police a search and rescue operation was conducted.

Emergency services initially responded to reports a girl fell off a waterfall and failed to resurface at about 2.30pm on Sunday.

The boy reportedly jumped into the water to help but also failed to resurface.

Queensland Fire Department and police divers started a search and rescue operation at about 2.50pm.

The girl was located deceased, in the water, by emergency services at about 3.30pm.

Police will prepare reports for the coroner for them.

Wappa Falls remained closed on Sunday night as investigations continued.

The state MP for Nicklin said the community was grieving the loss of the two teens.

“Our hearts go out to the families of the two individuals who tragically lost their lives at the waterfall,” he said in a statement to Sunshine Coast News.

“Two families are enduring unimaginable pain right now and on behalf of the community I offer our deepest condolences during this time.”

A male reportedly jumped into the water to assist but has also not resurfaced.

A search and rescue started at about 2.50pm and is ongoing.

Wappa Falls has been closed while emergency services conduct the search and rescue.
