A young man has been involved in a major crash on the Sunshine Coast.

The Queensland Ambulance Service stated that multiple paramedics attended the crash down an embankment off Emu Mountain Road at Peregian Beach late Thursday afternoon.

Two patients were assessed, including a 20-year-old man, who was initially entrapped in the vehicle.

A rescue helicopter was tasked to the scene before he was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital by road, with life-threatening injuries.

A man in his 50s was uninjured and declined further assistance.

The Queensland Police Service stated that the Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

A QPS spokesperson urged anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.

“Initial investigations indicate that around 5.20pm, emergency services were called to the intersection of Emu Mountain Road and Murdering Creek Road following reports of single-vehicle crash,” the spokesperson said.

“Initial information indicates that a ute has left the road and crashed down an embankment.

“The driver of the ute has sustained life-threatening injuries and has been transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.”

“The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the incident and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.”

It came after another serious crash about an hour earlier.

A vehicle and motorcycle crash was reported on Myall Street at Cooroy at 4.39pm.

Paramedics took one patient with significant injuries, in a stable condition, to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
