A man has been taken to hospital with severe injuries after a crash at a coastal suburb.

The motorcyclist in his 30s was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital after a crash involving another vehicle at Moffat Beach at 10.23am.

He sustained significant pelvis and chest injuries and a young girl suffered minor foot injuries.

The incident occurred at the T-intersection of Queen Street and Allen Street, which is next to the Caloundra Cemetery and not far from the Caloundra Golf Course and Caloundra State High School.

It was unclear what type of other vehicle was involved.

The motorcyclist was in a stable condition, after it was initially reported that he was in life-threatening condition.
