UPDATED: Police have located an eight-year-old girl who was allegedly taken from Maroochydore on Thursday morning, before charging a 44-year-old man.

The child was located safe and well at Eerwah Vale at about 6pm.

Police will allege the man took the girl, known to him, from a facility on Beach Road, which initiated an Amber Alert.

The man and the girl were located at a property in the evening.

The Coolum Beach man was charged with one count each of child stealing and trespass – unlawfully enter or remain in dwelling or yard.

He was due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on December 20.

Police thanked the public for their assistance.
