The co-owner of a new smokehouse within the region’s main shopping centre is confident there is nothing else like it.

Tiago Garcia said Brazzos, which specialises in Brazilian barbecue and slow-cooked meats, offered a new flavour experience to retail dining areas.

“We truly believe that this is a new concept for a shopping centre food court – a smokehouse where we barbecue our meats in a Brazilian way,” he said.

“We offer a variety of cuts and smoke our meats in-house.

“We bring real food for a food court, where you can get a healthy meal such as our house salad or our Brazilian Classic PF, but still can get a tasty burger with fries.”

Mr Garcia said it made sense for Brazzos to be located there, after years of serving dishes from food trucks.

“Opening a shop at Sunshine Plaza was part of our business plan to diversify our portfolio and grow our businesses,” he said.

“We come from street food, being in business for eight years and owing two different businesses: Brazzo Boys Brazilian BBQ and Mr Pulled Slow Cooked Meats. We own two food trucks for each business.

“We have always been based on the Sunshine Coast, so we know our customers’ profile and after an extensive market research, we identified a great opportunity for a Brazilian barbecue place at Sunshine Plaza, right in the heart of Sunny Coast.”

Brazzos, which is open daily, has only been open for three months but there is already a proposal to broaden its reach.

“At the moment, you can only find Brazzos at the Sunshine Plaza (but) we’re already planning to expand,” Mr Garcia said, without revealing where.

He said customers relished dishes like the Costela Burger (12-hour slow-smoked beef short ribs served in a burger with chimichurri and verde mayo sauces), the Picanha Burger (cut of beef rump served with chimichurri and smoked chipotle mayo) and the Brazilian Classic PF (rice, Brazilian black beans, salad with tomato salsa, chips and a choice of protein).

“It’s the authentic Brazilian way to barbecue, and we’re stoked to share it with you,” Mr Garcia said.

Mr Garcia owns Brazzos with friends Mateus Parra and Ibanez Koglin, who were inspired to operate food trucks and then a venue.

“Brazilian BBQ has its origins in Ssouthern Brazil, the state where we come from, Rio Grande do Sul,” he said.

“Back home, Churrasco (BBQ) is more than a meal or dish, it has been the way of celebrating our culture and values for centuries, cooking our meats in big spits and smoking them to perfection.

“It’s a tradition we were born with and that we decided to keep here in Australia.

“Seven years ago we realised there was an opportunity for a Brazilian BBQ food truck and slow-cooked meat in Sunshine Coast and that’s where everything started.

“Brazzos Smokehouse was the realization of a dream that brought a bit of our Brazilian cuisine to Australia.”

He said the business was “going great and serving up over a thousand people per week”.

“The idea is to keep up the great work and bring more customers to enjoy this small piece of Brazil in the Sunshine Coast.”
