Works are about to start on a lakeside facility that will finally provide a church with a permanent home.

Hm.church has announced that construction on its facility on Sportsmans Parade at Bokarina will get underway in November.

It has operated without a fixed base for two decades. Services have been held at the Chancellor Park Tavern, Venue 114 and the Kawana Waters State College auditorium.

The construction project for its own facility has gone through a lengthy approval process and rising building costs, which led to multiple design adjustments.

A Hm.church spokesperson said the changes had resulted in a more efficient and sustainable design.

“We’ve worked hard to maintain a high-quality finish and adjust for the increasing costs, ensuring that this space will meet the growing needs of our congregation and the community,” they said.

A media release stated that the facility was made possible by the persistence of the church and the generosity of its supporters.

Donations from the congregation have provided essential funding to move forward, allowing the church to break ground this year with plans to complete construction within 12 months.

“This is more than just a building, it’s a home for our community, a place where families, individuals and students can come together,” the spokesperson said.

“We’re excited to offer not only Sunday services but also evening workshops, mothers’ groups and even funeral services.

“This church will be a place of hope, connection, and growth for everyone in the community.”

The new facility will be across the road from Kawana Waters State College.

Through its chaplaincy support, the church will be able to support the families of more than 2000 students.
