A proposed wedding venue that would be similar to a popular Gold Coast hinterland facility is now open for public notification.

The operators of a successful Scenic Rim wedding venue lodged a development application with Noosa Council in June to establish a function facility at a macadamia farm in the Noosa hinterland.

The application seeks a material change of use for the purpose of holding small-scale weddings and events at a 99.9-hectare site at 658 Louis Bazzo Drive, Ringtail Creek.

The site is zoned rural under the planning scheme and is an operational macadamia farm with sheds used for nut packaging and the storage of machinery.

The application has been lodged on behalf Louis Bazzo Pty Ltd, and if approved it would be operated and managed by the team behind Rosewood Estate at Beechmont.

According to the planning report, the proposal involves establishing a permanent marquee and car parking areas near an onsite damn.

A Blackburne Jackson site plan of the proposed wedding venue at Ringtail Creek.

It would cater for up to 150 guests with a maximum of 96 events per year and operate from 11am to 11pm Monday to Sunday.

“The picturesque rural setting creates an ideal location to hold low-key weddings and events in the form of long lunches and health and wellness retreats,” the report stated.

“The use is proposed to collocate and operate in conjunction with the existing agricultural activities occurring on the premises.

“The proposal includes a permanent marquee and associated outdoor terrace areas which will be established on the western side of the existing constructed waterbody.

The subject site at 658 Louis Bazzo Drive.

“The marquee and outdoor terraces will be complemented by a new pontoon jetty which will be constructed within the existing dam.”

The marquee would feature a simple pitched roof with a maximum height of 4.8 metres and dimensions of 30 metres by 10 metres, according to the plans.

A back-of-house area is also proposed, as well as carparking for 55 vehicles and two buses.

The applicant has also provided an acoustic report outlining that all music after 7pm would occur within the marquee in accordance with the recommended noise limits established for the building.

Residents can have their say on the proposal until September 27.
