More than 50 stallholders have been confirmed for the opening day of a new farmers market, which will kick off next week.

The Aura Farmers Market is expected to boast local produce, gourmet delicacies, food trucks, beverages and live music.

It will be held at Central Avenue, near the Aura Sales Centre and Display Village, every Saturday from 7am to 12pm, starting on June 22.

The market will be operated by Caloundra Chamber of Commerce, which has 22 years experience operating markets.

It is one of new markets – one weekly and the other monthly – to be held in the expanding community.

The Caloundra Chamber of Commerce will also operate the Aura Twilight Market on the same site, with a bar, food trucks and entertainment.

It will be held on the first Friday of each month, from 4pm until 8pm, starting on July 5.

Stockland has worked with local street artist Sarah Sculley to complete a two-storey art piece across three shipping containers on site.

Stockland Aura project director Josh Sondergeld looked forward to welcoming families to the markets.

“Our vision at Stockland is to be the leading creator and curator of connected communities, and this is underpinned by our purpose – a better way to live,” he said.

“The opening of the markets builds on Stockland’s legacy of creating places and spaces full of energy, soul and life.

“Aura Farmers Market and the Aura Twilight Market are designed to connect the community and support local business on the Sunshine Coast.

“At Aura Farmers Market, we will be providing one site free of charge to an Aura-based business on a rotating schedule.”

Caloundra Chamber of Commerce general manager Rosina Harris said the Aura Farmers Market would welcome producers, artisans and specialty food vendors from across the region.

“We’ve worked closely with local Sunshine Coast producers and small operators including fresh produce, small goods and gourmet foods to create a dynamic mix of stallholders at our first Aura Farmers Market,” she said.

“The best way to experience the market is, of course, to come along and immerse yourself in the fun activities we have planned for our opening day, including live music by Frankie Rae and giveaways, discounts and presentations.”

Ms Sculley said she was excited to complete her art installation, which is designed to make the community space feel welcoming and enjoyable.

“The market space is a fresh and dynamic hub, and my mural adds a burst of colour and vitality that perfectly complements the essence of this new Aura community space,” she said.

“I hope my mural reminds people of the fun and connectedness of community and helps by inviting everyone to come along and join in.”
