Works will include installing wide centre line treatment, road widening and resurfacing, removing roadside hazards and providing sealed shoulders, safer road markings and provisions for bike riders.

Works should start within the next few months, weather and construction scheduling permitting.

The project is funded on a 50:50 basis under the Road Safety Program by the Australian Government and the Queensland Government.

Department of Transport and Main Roads North Coast regional director Scott Whitaker said road safety was the department’s “top priority”.

“Eumundi-Noosa Road is part of the department’s Principal Cycle Network and the safety improvements will encourage safer, more frequent bike riding along this scenic route.”
