With the population of the Sunshine Coast expected to grow from 357,422 in 2021 to 518,004 in 2041, efficient transport is one of the region’s most pressing issues.

As the local government elections near, each of the six mayoral candidates was asked ‘How will you work to ease the strain on Sunshine Coast roads and infrastructure?’ at Caloundra Chamber of Commerce’s Meet the Mayoral Candidates event this week, in partnership with Sunshine Coast News and My Weekly Preview.

It comes after data from the chamber’s Regional Competitiveness Survey showed employers and potential employees identified a lack of transport infrastructure as a key barrier to their growth.
