The festive spirit continues to shine across the Sunshine Coast, with the winners of this year’s Best Christmas Lights competition revealed.
The annual event is designed to celebrate the creativity and holiday cheer of Sunshine Coast residents by recognising and rewarding the most dazzling displays of festive lights and decorations.
This year’s winners were decided via public vote out more than 70 entries.
The winner of the 2023 competition was 21 Northcote Crescent, Caloundra West, with 13 Bright Street, Palmview, and 13 Rapanea Street, Meridan Plains, coming in at second and third respectively.
First National Coastal Real Estate principal Paul Angell said this year’s competition attracted some amazing entries, making the community’s task of voting for their favourite display challenging.
“We are delighted to see the incredible effort and enthusiasm that residents put into creating these festive displays,” he said.
“The Best Christmas Lights competition and Google Map has become a cherished tradition, helping people’s hard work be able to be appreciated by more of the community.”
Three voters were also selected at random, receiving prizes from First National Coastal and Lighting Illusions.
“Lighting Illusions is all about lighting homes across the gorgeous Sunshine Coast, and this Christmas Lights Competition was an amazing way to do that and we were blown away by the entrants in this year’s competition,” Lighting Illusions’ Alison Galloway said.
“We’re thrilled to be part of a community that shares our festive fever.”
Each registered display earned a star on the official Google Map to help the community navigate their way to each display.
“A huge shout out to everyone who participated. Your creativity has made this Christmas unforgettable,” Mr Angell said.
“Until next year, keep those lights shining, and may your holiday season be merry and bright.”
