Since changing ownership in July, local naturopathic clinic Advanced Wellness has shifted to a holistic approach combining science and natural methods to increase well-being.

New owner Vonni Parker holds two Bachelor of Health Science degrees, in Clinical Nutrition and Naturopathy.

Her passion for natural health solutions inspired her to start Naturally Wise Clinic in Brisbane’s Moreton Bay region in 2018 and now take over management at the Maroochydore-based health clinic.

She said her team contributed in a practical way to expanding the business.

“It’s hands-on and everyone has an input in the business to help grow it,” she said.

Ms Parker believes a natural approach helps provide clients with a more balanced lifestyle by tackling issues such as weight loss.

“We are focusing on reducing stress and increasing energy,” she said.

“Weight is currently a huge issue in Australia and we want to support people’s health and longevity.

“We give clients individualised treatment for their needs.

“I believe the human body knows how to heal itself, and just needs the correct co-factors and lifestyle balance to cause lasting change.”

Advanced Wellness’s natural medicine is made to assist positive change in mental health and complex conditions in clients of all ages.

The clinic also treats issues related to metabolism, cognition, allergies and many other health conditions.

Naturopath Alyson Maier welcomed the perspective change at Advanced Wellness in recent months.

“Vonni has an energetic background which I understand,” she said.

“She also has scientific training and is a breath of fresh air.”

Ms Maier said she had always had a “burning desire” to be a naturopath and wanted to bridge the gap between the medical world and the natural health world, after initially starting her career in oncology and medical imaging.

“I look at the person as a whole, from their biology and physiology, and also their spirit and character,” she said.

She primarily focuses on treating behavioural disorders, mental health disorders and gut issues.

Advanced Wellness uses natural and non-invasive treatments, and products that have potentially fewer side effects than conventional medical treatments.

Ms Maier said naturopathy assisted potential imbalances that have manifested into medical conditions or illnesses.

“Naturopathy looks at the whole picture and addresses the underlying drivers of disease,” she said.

“A person should seek naturopathic support if they wish to address these factors and restore health without long-term reliance on medications or a cascade of potential side effects.”
