A popular local pizza business has secured the lease for an exclusive waterfront food and beverage venue at the Coast’s newest marina.

That Pizza Guy will be launching a new venture at the Pelican Waters Marina focusing on shared platters and charcoal-grilled steak and seafood.

Business owner Simon Jones said the new restaurant would be known as the Marina Bar and Bistro.

“It will be all about sharing great food and conversation over a few drinks overlooking the water in a marina setting,” he said.

“I am super excited; it has been a busy six months to get to this point. We are looking forward to getting the design and fit-out finalised and hopefully opening for business early in the new year.

“I have grown up with boats all my life, I love the marina lifestyle and the special energy that comes with being surrounded by water. It is something you just cannot describe.”

The lease, negotiated by Paul Bell of Henzells Commercial, offers indoor and outdoor dining plus off-street customer parking.

The 112sqm internal area is highlighted by elegant finishes and the 125sqm exclusive outdoor alfresco setting has panoramic water views.

“It was an opportunity like no other on the Sunshine Coast,’’ Mr Bell said.

Pelican Waters Marina director Hamish Pressland said the restaurant was an exciting milestone for the marina and local community.

“We are delighted to be delivering the first restaurant for the precinct, offering a beautiful setting for people to enjoy a nice meal, coffee, wine or beer.

“We know it will be in excellent hands with Simon being well known and loved in Pelican Waters as That Pizza Guy with his mobile wood-fired ovens.

“The venue will be simply breathtaking for breakfast, lunch or dinner overlooking the marina.”

The new restaurant will be a focal point of the marina hub offering a fully enclosed 3000sqm shed for the storage of up to 160 boats, boat lifts, one-hour launch and retrieval service, boat washdown and other marine-related businesses and services.
