Christmas has come early! Bonza and Virgin Australia are out to ‘sleigh’ the opposition by gifting discounts on airfares this summer.

Bonza – the Sunshine Coast-based, independent airline – has taken 20 per cent off its more than 300,000 already low-cost flights from next month until March next year.

The airline said in a media release that the sale aimed to help many more people explore their own backyard either side of the Christmas peak travel times.

Travellers can book now on the Fly Bonza app, using promo code TAKEOFF20, until next Monday, October 23.

The discount applies to fares only, excluding bags, seats and payment fees. The promo code must be applied at the time of booking.

“Christmas financial pressures, alongside rising fuel costs, could make travelling at home out of reach for many,” Bonza CEO Tim Jordan said.

“That’s why we’re offering 20 per cent off over 300,000 flights in travel dates ranging from mid-November to the end of March. It’s all part of Bonza’s commitment to make air travel affordable for the many, not the few.”

Bonza and Virgin Australia are giving early Christmas presents in the form of discounted airfares.

All of Bonza’s 38 routes to 21 destinations are included in the sale, with travel periods from November 10 to December 13 this year, and January 16 to March 6, and March 13 to 27 next year.

“Savvy travellers wanting to grab a deal can get 20 per cent off if they book on the app before Monday,” Mr Jordan said.

“Sale dates include the tail end of the summer school holidays, including the long weekend starting 26 January.”

Bonza is preparing to launch its Gold Coast base on November 15, where it will operate 14 routes to existing and new destinations such as Darwin, Mount Isa and Launceston.

On November 29, the airline will have wheels up for the first time to Darwin from its home base at Sunshine Coast Airport, and Bonza will commence flights between Melbourne (Tullamarine) and Alice Springs on December 12.

The Virgin Australia airfare sale is on now.

Meanwhile, Virgin Australia also has announced it was putting domestic and international airfares on sale from today.

Book before Monday, October 23, for travel between January 16 and August 29 next year. Visit the website for more details.
