Audiences will have the chance to laugh themselves stupid when the fourth Sunshine Coast Comedy Festival returns in November.

Festival producer and comedian Mick Neven said the event had a proud record of bringing the finest comedy talent to the Coast.

“In previous years we’ve had Wil Anderson, Tripod, Tommy Little and Cal Wilson,” he said.

Sunshine Coast Comedy Festival producer Mick Neven.

“This year, we’re taking another step up with our headline acts Dave O’Neil and Lawrence Mooney, who are hands down two of the funniest live stand-up comedians in the country.

“As producers stepping in for the first year, myself and Nicky Wilkinson have the goal to create an exciting and eclectic comedy experience for all comedy lovers.

“Our underlying philosophy is ‘something for everyone’, so we’re bringing kids’ shows, regular stand-up shows and some more diverse shows that you’d expect to see in a fringe festival environment.”

The event will run over four days at venues from Noosa to Caloundra to Nambour and everywhere in between.

O’Neil is described as an icon of Australian comedy. From humble beginnings in suburban Melbourne, he has gone on to feature alongside Eric Bana in the classic comedy The Nugget, holds the record for guest appearances on Spicks and Specks, has made multiple appearances on the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala and more.

Lawrence Mooney will perform at the Sunshine Coast Comedy Festival.

In a career spanning 30 years, Mooney – aka the ‘Moonman’ – has worked across TV and breakfast radio, as well as being an award-winning host and best-selling writer. He’s sold out shows at festivals and theatres around the world and been nominated for Best Show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

The award-winning Mr Snotbottom’s Stinky Silly Show has been a sell-out success at major Australian festivals. Mr Snotbottom delivers a brilliant show for kids, but parents of all ages will also find themselves laughing along at his icky antics, slimy songs and wrong routines.

Also on the bill are emerging talents Jacques Barrett, Brodi Snook, Brett Blake, Nick Capper, Chris Ryan and more to be announced.

The Sunshine Coast Comedy Festival is from Thursday, November 9, to Sunday, November 12. Visit the website for exclusive deals, early access to tickets and loads more. Tickets are on sale from August 10, with presale starting August 9 for mailing list subscribers.
