Readers are set to revel in a giant four-day book festival on the Sunshine Coast.

Thousands of bookworms are set to converge for Lifeline Queensland’s much-loved Bookfest at Nambour Showgrounds, from Friday until Monday.

There will be more than 400 tables of pre-loved books for sale at bargain-basement prices.

There will also be toys, games, puzzles and women’s and children’s clothing for only $2.50 a piece.

The Sunshine Coast Bookfest follows on from a successful Easter 2022 event, where locals and tourists flocked in droves.

Lifeline Sunshine Coast regional business manager Roy Frith said there would be a mammoth number of quality books for sale, so everyone can be assured of picking up a quality read.

“We have 70 crates worth of books ready to be snapped up, and with roughly 1500 books per crate, there will be something for everyone,” he said via a press release.

“This bookfest also includes apparel and kids’ toys for only $2.50, so there will be plenty of fantastic Easter bargains for the whole family, and all proceeds go directly back to funding our 24/7 Crisis Support services.”

Mr Frith said the Lifeline Sunshine Coast Bookfest had always been popular with the community, having been a fixture on the local event scene for the past decade.

“Bookfest drew big crowds last year and we can’t wait for the community to come out and support us again – it will be a must-do event on the Sunshine Coast this Easter long weekend,” he said.

“It’s a great opportunity for families to come and fill a bag of books at great prices, knowing that every purchase is helping save a life.”

And for those needing to refuel throughout the event, the bookfest will have a coffee van and food truck on site so people can easily take a quick break to re-energise and restart the book hunt all over again.

With the Lifeline team putting the finishing touches on the bookfest, Mr Frith said they were anticipating big crowds this year.

“We always get such a great turn-out with hundreds of people walking through the showgrounds, and we can’t wait for the community to come out and join us again this year,” he said.

The festival will be open from 9am to 4pm each day.
