The first tenants to move into a newly completed $10 million office building at the gateway of the new Maroochydore CBD have a few reasons to celebrate.

Local accounting firm Yield Advisory has become the first official tenant to move into Evans Long’s latest commercial building, A1 on First Avenue.

Yield director Lachlan Ballinger said a key reason the business took up 185sqm within the five-storey building was to accommodate the significant growth the business has forecast into the future.

He said the firm had grown significantly after the opening of its first Sunshine Coast office in 2020 and was last year named as one of the leading national accounting firms in Australia.

Yield Advisory directors Scott Lumsden, Hayley Berneville-Claye and Lachlan Ballinger.

“We currently employ eight team members locally and we project another five employees will join our Sunshine Coast team in the near future,” Mr Ballinger said.

“We are also highly sought after to present at various industry conferences.”

Yield’s new space within the prominent building includes an office bar with four wine and beer taps to responsibly reward staff, as well as an exclusive rooftop area.

Yield Advisory was founded by Mr Ballinger in 2014, with the firm priding itself on being early adopters of cloud-based software, remote working and paperless systems.

The award-winning firm now employs up to 30 team members across its Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Sydney offices.

“Our hybrid work model often sees our team members from Brisbane circulating through the Sunshine Coast office so it’s important that we have plenty of room for all our local and visiting team members as well as our clients,” Mr Ballinger said.

He said the team had a strong belief in the Maroochydore CBD precinct.

“We were also very impressed with the design and sustainability elements, which a proven local builder like Evans Long have incorporated into the state-of-the-art A1 building,” he said.

“Covid has proven that people can work from anywhere and we are seeing many people moving away from the need to operate in major cities and, as a result, locations such as the Maroochydore CBD have become highly desirable.”

Yield is also committed to supporting a number of local business and community causes through financial support, as well as employees’ time and resources.

The firm’s chosen charity is the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, which helps children in remote communities improve their literacy levels.

It also sponsors the Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce, where Mr Ballinger is the treasurer, the Flinders Football Club and two finance and accounting bursaries at UniSC.
