The Sunshine Coast is home to more than 33,000 local businesses – many of which are small family-operated endeavours.

To encourage supporting local during the pre-Christmas sale season, Buy Local Sunshine Coast launched an interactive video campaign to make the most of Black Friday bargains.

The Think Sunshine This Black Friday campaign invited Sunshine Coast businesses to share a short video about their sale activities.

The campaign, which was supported by Sunshine Coast Council, was all about reminding Sunshine Coast residents to buy local and to encourage increased local spending.

It also capitalised on the fact that region had everything to offer shoppers, with more than 40 Sunshine Coast businesses entering the Think Sunshine This Black Friday video competition.

Sunshine Coast residents are being encouraged to shop local.

The competition’s two major prize winners were The Village Pickle in Nambour and Pronto Courier Services from Woombye.

Each business received $5000 in advertising and marketing support.

Both winners showcased their pure enthusiasm and excitement for their business, plus their goals for the campaign.

They also promoted the benefits of the Sunshine Coast coming together to support our local business this Black Friday.

A further eight business were also chosen to feature in a region-wide campaign on radio, print and social media across the coming month.
