The world’s biggest musicians could soon be performing on the Sunshine Coast under a plan to create an outdoor festival precinct similar to world-famous Coachella in California.
The Comiskey Group, known for the iconic Eatons Hill and Sandstone Point hotels, has unveiled its vision for a 150 hectare festival site south of Caloundra.
Named Coochin Fields, the grounds would be located by the tiny coastal township of Coochin Creek on land purchased in 2021 that is currently two turf farms and a strawberry farm.
Some of Australia’s leading artists, as well as international stars, would be invited to perform at new and current festivals on the circuit.
The group is already in discussions with existing festivals that want to expand into Queensland.

The sprawling concert site nestled in a river bend on Pumicestone Passage would include on-site camping for festivalgoers.
Director Rob Comiskey said patrons would be able to book a return bus from a range of locations around Brisbane and the Coast.
The Comiskey Group made a name for itself bringing some of the biggest names in music to their award-winning venues including Prince, Ice Cube, Rita Ora, Khalid, The Beach Boys, Ke$ha, Tyga, Bryan Adams, SIX60 and Post Malone.
Comiskey Group’s entertainment director Jonathan (Jono) Jackson said he was looking forward to bringing live music back to South East Queensland “in a big way” after the impact of the pandemic.
“It’s been a rough couple of years for the live music industry, but I am glad that we can get back to business and bring more local, national and international artists to the stage where they belong,” he said.
“It is a really impressive site that has so much potential. I am looking forward to showcasing the new space to more promoters, we have already seen incredible
interest and I know there will be plenty more.
“It’s going to be an exciting addition to the region, we can’t wait to bring your
favourite musicians closer.”

Mr Comiskey said the announcement of Coochin Fields was another leap forward for the group and an exciting addition to the region.
“I am excited to bring something special to the Sunshine Coast, the natural festival site is a similar size to North Byron Parklands, so there is plenty of opportunity to host both small and large-scale events with international artists and multiple stages,” he said.
The group has been bringing world-class events to Brisbane and the Moreton Bay region since 2011.
Coochin Fields is promising unique experiences that will “push the boundaries of what you’d expect from a festival”.

Both Eatons Hill Hotel and Sandstone Point Hotel have taken out the title of ‘Australia’s Best Entertainment Venue’ at the Australian Hotels Association Awards for Excellence.
Eatons Hill Hotel has also been inducted into the Hall of Fame for entertainment numerous times at the Queensland Hotels Association Awards for Excellence.
“Coochin Fields will operate as an amalgamation of what we have learnt from years of experience and our motivation to hit the ground running after the pandemic,” said Mr Comiskey.
“We are ready to take things to the next level, exceed expectations and bring another great entertainment facility to this great community.”
