Entire floors are being turned into multimillion-dollar mega-apartments at a waterfront project, amid a trend of buyers seeking expansive luxury on the Sunshine Coast.
Cube Developmentās Nature by Cube has proved highly desirable to local and interstate high rollers, with more than 75 per cent sold since development approval in August, totalling $32 million in sales to date.
Nestled in the picturesque pocket of Maroochydoreās Cotton Tree, Nature was pinned for 13 opulent residences set over eight-storeys, with an expansive penthouse sprawled across the upper level and a ground floor with an abundance of resort-style amenities.
But now, the Sunshine Coast developer is catering for a trend in bigger sky homes where buyers seek to amalgamate entire levels of the Nature project to create six-bedroom mega-apartments on the waterfront.
Director of Cube Developments Scott Juniper said that buyers moving to the area were looking to maintain inner-city luxuries as they made a COVID-driven lifestyle shift.
He said that his team had received a spike in requests to mirror the penthouseās impressive 475sqm plan in the lower apartments.
āBuyers are seeking to achieve the best of both worlds – the open-air and relaxed lifestyle that the Sunshine Coast offers, coupled with a high-end home that is on par with their Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne residence,ā Mr Juniper said.

āWeāre meeting the need with a flexible design and build model that is culminating in homes that are far from cookie cutter and truly bespoke; weāre creating something that youāve never seen before.ā
Mega-apartments will boast seven-metre frontage living with enormous semi-outdoor entertaining and kitchen spaces and a number of luxurious extras, such as a second dining area, private wine cellar, beverage service bar and multiple home offices.
But unmatched opulence and flexible design come at a premium price.
Take the projectās off-the-plan penthouse for example, which recorded the highest sale in the developerās portfolio at close to $7 million.

Director at Cottee Parker Sandra Browne said the expansive design of the sky homes had been fashioned to retain waterfront views across the master bedroom and communal living spaces, with an architectural spec not yet been seen on the Sunshine Coast.
āThis is the largest penthouse that weāve been part of creating in the area, and is within the top of Cottee Parkerās national portfolio in terms of its sheer size,ā Ms Browne said.
āWe have certainly taken advantage of this to capture the views – which are nothing short of spectacular, and maximise the frontage over the water,ā she said.
Three Nature by Cube apartments remain, with prices starting from $2.95 million.
