After visiting many different over-50s communities, couple Paul and Catherine Hemmings couldn’t go past B by Halcyon as the setting for their next chapter.
The pair, who live at leafy Burbank in Brisbane, are excited to swap their acreage home for one of the community’s coveted homes in the Rainforest Series, which are built on larger blocks and back directly onto 100-year-old Buderim forest.
Priced from $979,000, the luxurious low-set homes are expected to set a new standard for over-50s living on the Sunshine Coast.
With around 325 homes on completion, B by Halcyon features 5-star health and wellness facilities, including a 25m covered and heated magnesium salt pool with spa, outdoor resort pool, gymnasium and circuit room, yoga lawn, massage and therapy treatment rooms and beauty salon.
“We looked at quite a few communities, and we were very impressed with Halcyon in relation to a range of things,” Paul said.
These included design, master planning, facilities and environmental considerations which made the Buderim community the standout choice.
With about 4000 solar panels set to be installed, B by Halcyon’s carbon emissions from the community are predicted to be reduced by more than 1000 tonnes per annum.
“I think anything that we can do now to enhance the green aspects of these developments is a benefit to everybody,” Paul said.

As an artist, Paul looked forward to using the facilities in the community’s yet-to-be-completed Creative Arts Precinct, an area featuring arts and craft studios, pottery workshop with kiln as well as an open courtyard to hold exhibitions and displays.
“I am looking forward to the creation of the art space to be able to share ideas and inspiration from artists who are beginners to professionals,” Paul said.
“Contemporary art allows for the artists in everyone to be bought to the surface and people are often surprised by the great pieces they can create.”

Regional project director Chris Carley said the Rainforest Series was all about home buyer choice and flexibility, along with an impressive list of extras.
