A Nambour mother and son have emerged as the mystery winners of $2 million.

The elusive pair held one of the 10 division one winning-entries from the Saturday Gold Lotto draw, on July 31.

Lottery officials searched for them for more than a week, before the winning mum checked their ticket.

She had spent the past seven days oblivious of her windfall and the big win was like a “fairy tale”.

“Thank you ever so much …. I still can’t believe it,” she said via a press release from The Lott.

“I went into the newsagency on Saturday and checked the ticket.

“It was such a shock when they told me they couldn’t pay out the prize.

“There were so many things running through my mind. It was so overwhelming. It still is.

“I am sharing the win with my son. We always buy tickets together.

“It’s incredible. I still can’t believe it. It’s like a fairy tale.”

The winning entry was purchased more than a week ago.

With $2 million about to hit their bank accounts, the winning pair had no doubt things were about to change in a big way.

“I don’t know exactly how we will use the prize at the moment,” the mum said.

“But I do know that it will be life-changing for us; it really will.

“I’ll be able to do some renovations done around the house, and my son will be able to really set himself up.

“It will be amazing.”

The entry was purchased in Nambour.

“We are so happy to see this prize go to loyal and local customers,” she said.

“It feels absolutely amazing to sell a division one prize, and we are so happy for our winners.”

“I got goosebumps and started crying when I read that I had sold a division one prize. I rang my parents, who own the store, and they were over the moon.

“Nambour is such a small and lovely community town so everyone is so happy for them.

“A massive congratulations to our winners.”

The winning numbers were 32, 41, 13, 16, 33, 18, while the supplementary numbers were 9 and 19.

In 2020, Saturday Gold Lotto created 122 millionaires across Australia.
