A leading Pilates franchise has expanded to the Sunshine Coast, with a new studio opening at Mooloolaba.

KX Pilates, which is at 75 locations around Australia, is now at Brisbane Road.

The studio, owned by instructor Elle Kendell, had its grand opening on June 26.

Ms Kendell, who relocated from Adelaide to open the studio, was excited to bring something different to the Sunshine Coast.

“I have always wanted to relocate to the Sunny Coast. It has always called me,” she said, after enjoying regular holidays in the region.

“And I thought ‘if I’m going to relocate, what is it that my heart wants to do?’

“Being an instructor and having fallen in love with KX in South Australia, I thought it was something the Coast didn’t have …. there was nothing intense, cardio-based or fitness-based.”

“I thought why not bring KX to the Coast?

“The brand grew in Adelaide in a short amount of time, and it seemed like a great opportunity to bring that here.”

KX Pilates is a combination of traditional Pilates with the strength and toning aspects of circuit training.

Fast-paced classes are performed on a spring resistance apparatus called a Reformer Bed.

“It’s about whole-body movement, a healthy spine, healthy life,” Ms Kendell said.

“We really like to get that cardio aspect in there, lift that heart rate and challenge our clients.

“There are no limits, except what the clients are capable of, and we’re helping them achieve that.”

Ms Kendell said there has already been significant interest in the studio and its opening.

“The response has been absolutely amazing, and the support has been incredible,” she said.

“People who were aware of KX are so excited to finally have a studio here, and people who hadn’t heard about it before are now looking into it or have heard from friends who have fallen in love with it.”

She said there was “an amazing energy and vibe” at the recent grand opening.

“It’s incredible to open the doors and have everybody experience what KX is, and they get to feel what I was feeling when I first became a client of KX.”

Ms Kendell has been a Pilates instructor for almost five years and with KX for a year.

“I was initially a client of theirs and just fell in love with the energy and community they create,” she said.

She moved to the Sunshine Coast in March.

“I’ve made some great friends and I don’t have any plans to leave anytime soon,” she said.

The KX studio is at 108 Brisbane Road, Mooloolaba.
