Many of the nation’s top ironmen and ironwomen were in the thick of the action at the annual Maroochy Surf Classic on Saturday.

A host of competitors converged on Maroochydore Beach for the event, which was first contested in 1967.

Meanwhile, the Queensland Surf Rowers League state team trials were also held at Maroochydore Beach on Saturday.
