The final preparations are being made for the GABS Festival Summer Tour event that will attract thousands of beer, cider, wine and champagne lovers to the foreshore of Lake Kawana on Saturday.

Hundreds of beer taps have been installed, along with the GABS Ferris wheel (below), which will give a birds-eye view of the festival site and surrounding area.

Organisers say tickets are selling well for the first-of-its-kind festival for the Sunshine Coast.

They say that as a community care gesture, the GABS team has given away hundreds of free tickets to local frontline workers, including nurses, paramedics, police and surf lifesavers as a thank you for their tireless work.

Some of Australia’s best breweries will converge on Bokarina to start 2021 in style at the GABS SUMMER Tour.

Hailed as one of the best beer festivals in the world, GABS Festivals will host the event on Saturday after four of its festivals this year were postponed due to COVID-19.

“We’re thrilled to bring our festival beyond the city, to the beautiful Sunshine Coast. Its waterside location at Lake Kawana will be spectacular,” GABS Managing Director Mike Bray said.

It’s expected to be the biggest outdoor gathering of craft breweries on the Sunshine Coast, and locals and visitors are invited to sample limited-release beers, sip wine, meet brewers and listen to live music. There will also be plenty of amazing food options.

Two 40-foot container bars are set to serve hundreds of beers.

The GABS Summer Tour launches at the Sunshine Coast Stadium foreshore precinct on Saturday, January 2, before moving to the Gold Coast on January 9. Buses will run to and from the event from Brisbane and Noosa. Event details: www.gabfestival.com
