A man has been injured in a freak incident during a walk to Buderim Falls.
The 43-year-old was near the popular scenic falls when a tree fell on him at 10am Wednesday.
QAS Officer in Charge at Buderim, Kevin Smith, said the tree was about 4m high and the man was struck heavily as it came down.
A 000 call was received and up to 20 emergency personnel, including a doctor, paramedics, police, and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services’ (QFES) officers, attended.
Mr Smith said the man required a complex extrication to bring him to safety with the operation taking about 40 minutes.
“By the time Queensland Ambulance arrived, the patient was slightly confused with quite a significant posterior head injury and concerns for a right-side chest injury,” he said.
The man was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with serious head, neck and chest injuries.
The man was having X-rays in SCUH’s emergency department to identify the extent of his injuries and was in a stable condition.
