The Sunshine Coast wedding industry is worth $55 million to the local economy each year, with the picturesque hinterland making up a large proportion of that contribution.

This weekend nine wedding venues in the hinterland will open their doors for the Hinterland Wedding Showcase Trail, alongside dozens of suppliers of everything from floral and style design to fashion, custom transport options, catering, food trucks and entertainment.

Featuring venues from Maleny to Palmwoods, couples are also able to win up to $25,000 of prizes towards their upcoming wedding.

Kelly Tilse, owner of Tiffany’s Maleny, is looking forward to showcasing her venue.

“We love being part of the Hinterland Tourism Wedding Showcase as our staff proudly put our beautiful venue and outstanding service on display, giving all guests a taste of what the Tiffany’s touch can bring to a couple’s special day,” she said.

“This year we are particularly thrilled to be one of the host venues that will have the major diamond prize on display from our friends at Maleny Jewellers, and we invite soon-to-be-wed couples to come and take a look at the diamond and our venue to picture how this could all be part of their dream day.”

The wedding industry was hit hard by the pandemic but injects $55 million a year into the Coast’s economy, according to information provided to the State Government in 2020.

First prize in the draw is a diamond valued at $15,000 along with a jewellery design consultation with Maleny Jewellers, plus $10,000 towards a wedding thanks to Hinterland Tourism Sunshine Coast. Second prize is a $20,000 bundle of wedding supplier products.

The showcase is free but people must register through the Hinterland Tourism website to go in the draw for the chance to win the prizes.
