Halcyon Lakeside at Bli Bli has yet again been crowned as Australia’s best, taking out the inaugural Retirement Development of the Year at the 2020 National Retirement Living Awards.

The win complements Halcyon Lakeside’s 2019 UDIA National Award for Seniors Living, further recognising the over-50s lifestyle community’s excellence in Australia.

Halcyon Lakeside incorporates the impeccable quality, innovation, liveability and facilities that have made Halcyon a leader in over 50s lifestyle community developments for more   years.

Halcyon Joint Managing Director, Paul Melville said: “Australia’s modern seniors want more choice to individualise a home to their taste and lifestyle. They embrace over-50s lifestyle communities rather than a retirement village as they are not hemmed in by cookie-cutter design.”

Dan Purdie MP, Member for Ninderry gave a glowing review of the impact that the development had on the local area.

“Halcyon Lakeside is a true visionary masterpiece – creating a connected and cohesive community of active seniors who have also contributed to the broader Ninderry community,” he said.

He said the modern senior expects, demands and deserves new standards and new ways. Halcyon has responded; delivering a unique development and a community which provides environmental, physical, social and financial sustainability for its residents.

While Halcyon Lakeside has been completed and there are pre-loved homes available, Halcyon is constructing its newest community and its fourth on the Sunshine Coast, B by Halcyon at Buderim.

More than 20 homeowners have moved into the community, with more to come in the coming weeks and months. B by Halcyon is the greenest Halcyon project yet and will have premier recreation and leisure facilities, which will be completed in April.

Ossie and Jo Feiner (pictured below) love the Halcyon lifestyle and are now living in their second Sunshine Coast community, having recently moved into their brand new home at B by Halcyon in Buderim.

The couple, originally from Brisbane, moved to Halcyon Lakeside in Bli Bli three years ago and fell in love with the huge amount of leisure and recreation activities on offer at Halcyon.

“We knew from the first visit that Halcyon was where we were coming when we retired, and we did and it’s been the best thing,” Jo said.

She said they had tried “everything” at Halcyon Lakeside – from pottery to painting to tennis and lawn bowls.

“I’m not the sportiest person, but I’ve had a go at everything and I can hit a tennis ball and I can now bowl,” she said.

“We used to play bowls on a Tuesday night and then have a social get-together afterwards, which is so much better than sitting inside watching TV every night.”

Ossie said they loved living at Halcyon Lakeside, but decided to take advantage of becoming one of B by Halcyon’s first homeowners

“Coming in at ground level, you get the opportunity to form different groups and be a part of creating a community,” he said.

He said they were looking forward to work starting on the community’s facilities, which are due to be built by April next year.

B by Halcyon will feature 5-star health and wellness facilities including a 25-metre covered and heated magnesium salt pool with spa, outdoor resort pool, gymnasium and circuit room, yoga lawn, massage and therapy treatment rooms and beauty salon.

Also planned for the community is a Creative Arts Precinct which includes an art room, pottery workshop, music studio and work shed.
