With huge passion and a baby in her arms, Courtney Blake is keeping five generations of family history alive in Caloundra’s main street.

Wanting to create a supportive community for mothers and a place they could find beautiful baby clothing and accessories, she opened Husk and Will baby and kids boutique.

The business venture is a natural progression for Ms Blake, who has children’s retail running in her veins.

“I’ve always believed that the secret to a happy life is finding a way to make the world a better place, one step at a time,” she said.

“That’s why, when I was in the middle of being a busy, sleep deprived mum with a little bubba in my arms, I knew that I had to share my passion and purpose with the world.

“In that moment, I decided to create a space where mums can come for support, drop in to share stories, and find the adorable little products that make those early years even more precious.”

The Husk and Will store is located on Bulcock Street.

Ms Blake said the building held a special place in her heart.

“My great grandparents operated a shoe store, Shannon’s Shoes, in the same building for 30 years,” she said.

“My Mum has now owned Shannon’s Shoes for 17 years and it is now located across the road.

“She has fond memories of running around the store as a child.

“It’s heart-warming that now my children will be doing the same thing.

“(That’s) five generations of family history in our store at 31B Bulcock Street, Caloundra. Is it any wonder that this little corner of the Sunshine Coast felt like home from the moment I opened the doors.”
