If I could invent anything in this world it would be a sushi-train style little track that zooms around my bed, fully laden with tempting treats such as sliders and nachos.

I would turn on a switch and the food train would whirl into action as I lazed back in bed.  Now I am not an inventor and would not have the faintest idea how to go about making this crazy fantasy a reality, but I am always in awe of our inventors.

I think they dream bigger than the rest of us and dare to have a go,  so I want to celebrate them this week.

Two mums are raking in the cash after inventing a hairbrush in the hope of helping to untangle the hair and lives of their screaming children and husbands.

Desperation led the friends to invent their multimillion-dollar business idea “scream-free” detangling hairbrush business called Ugly Swan.

No screaming with the Ugly Swan brush.

The Adelaide friends were on a business trip away together when one husband rang to say his daughter was screaming about having her hair brushed. The mums commiserated about how hard it was to drag their daughter’s tangled hair through a painful brush every morning.

So, they invented a better brush.  Now they are selling the genius idea in 65 salons around the country.

Local mum Kelly Lavery is another amazing inventor and businesswoman. The mum of three has cracked the international market with a unique bucket idea called the Strucket. A strainer sits inside a bucket so you do not have to touch the water that has had dirty clothing or nappies soaking in it.

Kelly’s soaking solution has sold over 200,000 units in the last two years and is sold around the world.

“It has been a huge effort with close to six years of hustle and three of those in research and development, prototyping and testing,” says the talented local.

“But it has been worth it and I can happily say we have made it out of the trenches. We have a new product launching at the end of this month which will see our product range expanding into the kitchen sector,” Kelly added.

We need people like Kelly in our world or life would be so beige. They are the Willy Wonkas of our world.

This year alone around the world there have been many weird and whacky inventions including a banana peeling robot and Apple’s new smart water bottle that tracks how much h2O you have consumed that day.

Some clever cookie invented a mouse pad that looks just like a ring for your finger. And a robotic cat is incredibly life-like and even sucks on your finger to let you know it is happy and content.  Perhaps one of these brainiacs will help invent my bed sushi train and life will truly be complete.
