The annual Mooloolaba NYE fireworks has been cancelled for 2020 but that doesn’t mean the party’s over.

There’s still plenty happening around the Sunshine Coast to help celebrate the end of the pandemic year and the start of 2021.

Some venues are hosting private fireworks displays and there are still places where you can get last-minute bookings for an extravagant feast, cocktail cruise or even tickets to a music festival.

If you are keen to spend the last hours of 2020 out on the town, check out some of these local events being held Thursday night.

Mooloolaba

Whale One

Sail the seas with a live DJ and food catered by The Dock Mooloolaba on board Whale One. Ring in the New Year with house beer, wine, sparkling, or soft drinks for the duration of the trip. From 9.30pm to midnight.

Sunshine Coast Afloat

Set off on a three-hour cruise with Sunshine Coast Afloat and enjoy beer, wine cocktails and bubbles. Cost is $69pp. From 9.30pm to 12.45am

Mooloolaba Seafood Cruise

Cruise along the Mooloolaba Canals on NYE and snacking on canapes and utilising the fully licensed bar. Cost is $60 per head. From 9.15pm to 12.15am.

Psari Bar and Grill

Ring in the New Year at Psari in Mooloolaba with a black-and-white party and four-course menu for $85 per person.

Caloundra

Fireworks: Pelican Waters Tavern

Fireworks from 8pm. Bookings essential

Whispers Cocktail Bar & Lounge

Whispers Cocktail Bar & Lounge is hosting a Masquerade Party with live music, entertainment and food. From 6pm to 1am.

Nambour

Dust off your dance shoes, frock up and rock in the New Year at Stalwart Alehouse and Brewery in Nambour. Rock’n’roll/rockabilly bands, Bamboo Rockets and Rocknrollabillys will provide the entertainment as you enjoy the food and drink.

The Alehouse is fully booked from 5 to 9pm but if you have missed out head down after 9pm. First come first served for tables and seats.

Eumundi

Thrive
It’s time for a classic New Year’s camp festival! Thrive is a two day event – although you can buy a day ticket – outside Eumundi. There will be live music, dance, yoga, spoken word poetry, comedy, art, and kids entertainment. The exact location will be revealed after you buy your ticket!

Imperial Hotel

Screening two kids’ movies in The Brewery (free entry) on New Year’s Eve. Also DJs playing in The Green Room and live music in the Imperial Beer Garden from 2pm until late.

Noosa

Fireworks: Noosa Marina

Free fireworks at 9pm and midnight as well as The SandFlys live from 8pm. Fantastic dining events at the Noosa Marina waterfront restaurants. No bookings required. No BYO.

Noosa Boathouse

Four NYE events across three levels plus front row seats for the 9pm Noosa River Fireworks.

Noosa Waterfront Restaurant
Settle in for a decadent six-course meal prepared by chef  Andrea Ravezzani at Noosa Waterfront Restaurant. Be welcomed with a glass of Veuve Cliquot on arrival, then dinner starts at 7 pm. Cost is $185.

Catalina Noosa

This year Catalina is offering sunset cocktails and an epic dinner aboard from 3pm to 7pm. Tickets include four hours aboard, a bespoke canapé menu served throughout the afternoon and a welcome cocktail.
