A $2.9 million rehabilitation project for a “critical stretch of road” is set to start.

Member for Nicklin Rob Skelton said the works would improve the quality of a 2.7km stretch of Eumundi-Kenilworth Road, between the Bunya Road roundabout and the Bruce Highway overpass to Memorial Drive.

“We know that over 3000 people use this stretch of road daily, including heavy vehicles, and we want to see each and every one get home sooner and safer than before,” he said.

Mr Skelton said more than $5.7 million had been invested in the road during the past few years.

“Eumundi-Kenilworth Road is a popular route for locals and tourists alike, connecting the Bruce Highway with our western suburbs and beyond,” he said.

“That’s why we undertook a similar project in 2019 to rehabilitate the road from Belli Community Hall access to just east of Cedar Creek Road.

“Since then, we’ve also resealed the section between Belli Oak Tree Road and Moy Pocket Road, as well as slope stabilisation works on the eastbound side, to ensure the safety and reliability of the road.

“This is important work that will benefit our community now, and into the future, and I look forward to seeing works get underway this month.”

Works will be carried out in two stages, starting in late January, with the second stage to start in May. Resurfacing works will be carried out at night, Sunday to Thursday.

Drivers are encouraged to observe all signage and drive to the conditions.
