New Year’s revellers are set to thrive at an event featuring “music, art and human connection”.

Sunshine Coast – Mask Events have teamed up with Sonic Artistry Entertainment to provide the region with an “epic gathering of community”.

The event, dubbed THRIVE NYE, is set to feature live music, dance, yoga, spoken word poetry, comedy, art and kids’ entertainment.

Some of the hottest local musical acts will be involved, including Tijuana Cartel, Dubarray and Phil Barlow.

The event also boasts Poetry Slam specialist ‘Liquid Lyrics’, music yoga from Janice X May and ‘The Art of Connection’ hosted by Lauren Cuthburn,

The team invited Reef Check Australia to be involved as the charity of choice for this event.

The environmental not for profit will help with waste management, with the money raised from recycling through the container deposit scheme going to support Reef Check Australia’s Sunshine Coast Reef Health Surveys and local community education and action through the Reef Ambassador program.

Reef Check Australia is involved as the charity of choice for THRIVE NYE.

“Mask Events is all about creating connections with each other through shared experiences. Reef Check Australia does the same, with nature as their medium. For us, supporting a local group who supports our coastal home is a great opportunity to share the love,” Mask Events CEO Domenic Fusca said.

Sonic Artistry Entertainment Director Brett Gadenne said it was great they could work together.

“How we treat our environment is a reflection of how we treat ourselves. I love that we can all work together as a community to keep our spirits high, our oceans clean, and our lives full,” he said.

Reef Check Australia’s General Manager Jodi Salmond said they appreciated support.

“Reef Check Australia is the only citizen science-based program consistently documenting reef health of the Sunshine Coast and we rely on the support of the local community to continue our essential work.”

The event will be held in Belli Park, west of Eumundi.
