A leading property developer on the Sunshine Coast is encouraging community groups to apply for funding.

The highly-anticipated third round of Stockland’s Aura Community Grants Program has been launched with funding available for not-for-profit groups and community organisations delivering services in the Caloundra region.

Organisations which will benefit from a helping hand are invited to apply.

The grant can be used for either a one-off project or to deliver an ongoing service, with more than $590,000 gifted to local community organisations over the past four years.

Josh Sondergeld, Project Director for Stockland, said the grants program aimed to support local interest groups, parent groups, sports clubs and community associations that made up the heart and soul of the Caloundra region.

“The first two rounds of the program received an outstanding response, with a wide range of extremely worthy local organisations benefiting from some much-needed funds, and we’re proud to once again support these groups who work tirelessly to make our community a better place,” Mr Sondergeld said.

“The program will see up to $10 million of funding delivered to local organisations throughout the duration of Aura’s construction.”

On completion, Aura is planned to include more than 20,000 new homes.

The 2021 Stockland Aura Community Grants Program is open until September 17, with three types of grants available – $1000 to $5000, $5-001 to $10,000 and $10,001 to $50,000.

Applicants will be required to demonstrate how their program or service delivers outcomes for the local community, including increasing health and happiness, supporting the environment, developing local skills and talent, and fostering a sense of local community.

The program is a commitment outlined in Stockland’s Infrastructure Agreement for Aura – a collaboration between the Sunshine Coast Council, the State Government and Stockland that will see the developer invest more than $1.3 billion in local infrastructure over the life of Aura.

On completion, Aura is planned to include more than 20,000 new homes, two business parks, 10 sporting grounds, 25 community facilities, 20 educational facilities, and 700 hectares of conservation areas and parkland. The project will contribute around 20,000 new jobs to the Sunshine Coast region.
