Thousands of motocross enthusiasts from around the country are set to converge for two mega events at Coolum Beach, and many of them are likely to stay in the region for a fortnight.

Riders will hit top gear at Coolum Pines Motocross and the Suncoast Junior Motorcycle Club, for Round 1 of the Queensland Motocross Championships on July 31-August 1, and for two rounds of the ProMX National Titles on August 14-15.

The club secured the events largely due to its reputation for holding outstanding race meets, and their nationally renowned race tracks.

Event participants and spectators could stay on the Sunshine Coast for a fortnight.

Because the two events fall within two weeks of each other, racers from around Australia are likely to compete at both, taking an extended holiday on the Sunshine Coast through the first two weeks of August.

“These race events usually attract hundreds of riders and thousands of spectators,” Suncoast Junior Motorcycle Club Secretary Carly Holliday said.

“With our club being host to two of the most significant motocross events of the year, we’re really looking forward to welcoming the crowds to our COVID-safe event and generate great competition as well as great tourism and business opportunities for our region.”

There should be some fast and furious racing at Coolum Pines.

Registrations are open for competitors, aged 7 years and older, who are set to race on Coolum’s renowned outdoor MX sand track, which uses local sand to produce a challenging track with a combination of large tabletops, extensions, berms and rollers.

“Spectators can watch all the action from the viewing mounds surrounding the track, upgraded just a few years ago to provide premier spectator experience for large events,” Ms Holliday said.

“Plus, off the track, there’ll be plenty of action and entertainment, with DJs, trade stalls, canteen and bar, set to make these a pair of unforgettable weekends for riders, families and the public.”

Racing registration is now open here: http://bit.ly/QLDtitlesCoolum. Spectators can purchase tickets at the gate, open from 8.30am each day.
