The boss of health on the Sunshine Coast has confirmed her shock resignation after only 3.5 years in the job.

Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service Chief Executive Adj Professor Naomi Dwyer  announced she was stepping down from her role, saying it was “time for her to stop and smell the roses”.

“It’s been an absolute honour to lead Sunshine Coast Health and the fabulous team of professionals who do so much for our community every day. I am proud of the commitment of every member of our team, and I am humbled by the remarkable achievements that we have achieved together over the last few years” she said.

“It has been my privilege to increase public health services on the Sunshine Coast, which are now at record levels, as well as some of the major transformations that have been important in taking our place as a leading University Health Service.

“We can be proud of our digital transformation, our research and education profile and the opening of our Griffith University Sunshine Coast Medical School. Our final stage of the multi-million capital delivery program at SCUH is nearing completion, and our $86 million redevelopment of Nambour General Hospital is well on track.
