Coolum’s second-last original beach shack was always going to produce a lively auction, but what happened next shocked everyone.

Built 62 years ago and pretty much in its original state, 1690 David Low Way overlooks stunning First Bay.

It set the scene for an epic battle that produced a first for long-time agent Kerry Glover of North Shore Realty.

The auction, at 4pm Saturday, was hectic with Kerry busy handing out paddles to bidders, soon running out such was the demand.

More than 20 people began to vie for the local classic (pictured) on 464m2 that could make way for a modern home up to three storeys with magnificent ocean views.

But while the bidding was competitive, it was the involvement of the parochial crowd of 100 that took proceedings to a whole new level.

“They started urging the last remaining local bidder to go higher and not let the interstate phone bidder win,” Kerry said.

“Then they did something I hadn’t seen before – they started booing the Melbourne-based bidder. It was like fans at a sporting event. They were so involved. They said to the local family – go more, go more.”

Amid the cheers and jeers, the rivalry continued until the Coast bidder threw out the anchor at $2,069,000 and the property was sold for $2,070,000 to the persistent Victorian businessman.

The managing director, who already has a prize home in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, added a beach house to his investment portfolio.

After 38 years of tenure, 80 and 86 McGilchrist Road, Eudlo, came to market with Leigh Martinuzzi.

On Friday at 11am, the vacant land looked like a festival car park. Those arriving were mostly locals who had some serious intent to purchase.

First up was Lot 80. The 1.87 acre vacant allotment lot drew out a flood of bidding as the buyers battled it out.

The final blow was $525,000 as the property changed hands.

Two hours later and we were on the North Eastern escarpment of Buderim at 7A Parkview Terrace with Danny Redman and the team at Ken Guy.

The vacant land with ocean views attracted a local builder and a Brisbane family hoping to build and relocate to the mountain suburb.

The Brisbane buyers opened up with $650,000 and then controlling the private negotiations, raising the stakes to $740,000 where the property was sold.

Ash Roberts and the team at Local Property Group set a great example as to why taking property to auction opens up the possibility of achieving better prices.
