Construction has started on a $35 million residential, retail and commercial development at Sippy Downs.

The first release of HQ by Devcon is set to include 30 apartments, with the second release to feature a childcare centre, offices, food and beverage outlets and 16 units.

“We are proud to have started on the Coast and we wanted it to continue to be our home despite our projects now being throughout South East Queensland,” Devcon Managing Director Michael Kain said.

A regular of the BRW Fastest 100, the foundations of Devcon’s success can be seen in the approach, design and planning of HQ.

“Our office was bursting and when the site came up, I knew it was the opportunity for us to create something significant for our business,” Mr Kain said.

“We had just finished a round of successful syndicated investments, so we created another one specifically for the site and proudly 100% was taken up by existing investors. In fact, we were oversubscribed which is always a good problem to have.”

Devcon by HQ is a residential, retail and commercial development at Sippy Downs.

Charged with the design solution was award-winning Coast architects Blackburne Jackson. who looks to deliver an honest and robust mixed-use development with a refined and restrained material palette.

“HQ integrates human-scaled, ground level splices, transparent commercial office spaces and a range of residential typologies. The sleek and curvaceous lineament façade of HQ incorporates bold, contrasting geometric forms creating a unique architectural outcome,” said Rohan Jackson, from Blackburne Jackson.

HQ looks to create a genuinely integrated project activating the street with eight boutique food and beverage outlets, 1,300m2 of flexible commercial spaces, including a 120-place childcare centre and 46 apartments that have been designed to appeal to both the investor and local market.

“HQ has been really well received, the top floor apartments we wanted to design for those locals looking to downsize and also has appealed to the investor market with sales nearing 60% already,” Devcon Sales Manager Peter Latham said.

HQ is part of Devcon’s $100m pipeline of residential, industrial, and commercial projects currently underway.

“We constantly challenge ourselves to do something different, something better and I think you can see that in all our developments but particularly in HQ. It sets the new benchmark for the Sippy Downs Town Centre,” Devcon Development Manger Simon Drew said.

HQ is part of Devcon’s $100m pipeline of residential, industrial, and commercial projects.

Mr Kain’s vision for the commercial component of HQ is that their office becomes a drawcard for the property sector.

“I would like to see others come and join us here at HQ, architects, engineers, planners and subcontractors, like what happens in other industries. You have the university at your doorstep for your juniors or team members training, great access to the highway and you are here in a growth zone where lots of our projects are”.

Construction has started on HQ by Devcon.

When complete, Devcon’s new HQ will feature a unique client experience.

“We are actually taking some of the retail space and will build an integrated showroom connected with cameras so wherever our clients are in the world they can touch and see the quality of the end product,” Mr Latham said.

Level 1 will be built to accommodate the currently 65 strong Devcon team in a workplace befitting their culture and modern approach.

“Think tech company for the construction industry, with teams able to collaborate across our entire service offering and don’t forget the balcony for Friday drinks and our barbecues. said an excited Michael.

Currently underway, Stage 1 of HQ by Devcon will be completed in the third quarter of 2022 and no one is more excited than the team who are counting the days until they call HQ their new home.
